TUFF COAT is a state of the art, WATER BASED, SINGLE COMPONENT acrylic/urethane copolymer with recycled rubber crumb as an aggregate. This environmentally friendly coating is extremely durable and designed to adhere to most substrates with excellent abrasion and chemical resistance rendering them non-slip. TUFF COAT contains no VOC’s, is odorless and can be applied with a roller, low pressure spray gun (hopper gun), Typical thickness is approximately 30-40 mils. See warranty information.
Unlike epoxies TUFF COAT is also very flexible making it chip and impact resistant. TUFF COAT will handle wear from foot traffic to forklift and automotive traffic. TUFF COAT is an air dry, air cure coating and is non-flammable. Available in 21 UV resistant colors.
Pot and Shelf Life
TUFF Coat has no pot life.TUFF Coat has a minimum shelf life of one year from manufacture. Partly used cans ofTUFF Coat can be re-sealed for up to one year without damage to the product. Dilution of TUFF Coat must only be done with clean water. DO NOT — USE SOLVENTS OR THINNERS. DO NOT LET FREEZE.
TUFF Coat cures as a result of a cross linking process and evaporation and should, therefore, be touch dry in 30 minutes per coat (77°F & 50% humidity). Light traffic is possible after 10-12 hours, hard dry in 24 hours, and a full cure will take 5-7 days.
Pending final application requirements, it is recommended that TUFF Coat is applied at a minimum of 40-50 sq. ft. per gallon for most non-heavy commercial applications, and 35 sq. ft. per gallon for heavy industrial applications. The desired thickness is achieved in two coats for most non-heavy commercial applications and in three coats for heavy industrial applications. These coverage estimates include the multiple coats necessary to achieve desired thickness.
Surface Preparation and Adhesion
As with all coatings, TUFF Coat adhesion is dependent on the quality of the substrate and the preparation of the substrate. All surfaces must be sound, dry, free of oil, wax, grease, and loose material. Use the TUFF Coat Application Manual as directed.
Clean equipment with hot or cold water. Over-spray and application errors should be cleaned with a water damp cloth as soon as the error occurs.
